3. Cramer’s Western Town and Pumpkin Patch

Cramer’s Western Town & Pumpkin Patch in Lynden has been offering a fall pumpkin experience for the past 13 years, but it’s been ramped up with more offerings recently, says Dan Cramer. This year, expect a hay jump, a petting zoo, pony rides, a corn maze, train rides (barrels, pulled by an antique tractor) and horse-drawn wagon rides to the pumpkin patch. “We have lots of farm animals for the kids to look at,” he says, “ducklings, baby rabbits, a baby donkey, a couple of turkeys, calves, goats and sheep.”

This is the place for picturesque photo ops – the kind made for Facebook posts – with gorgeous views of Mount Baker on clear days. If you’re a pumpkin aficionado you’ll enjoy the 30 different varieties on Cramer’s farm. Food offerings include cotton candy, shaved ice, hot dogs and hamburgers and if you have a preschooler in tow, consider coming Tuesdays through Fridays, when Cramer offers tours tailored to the li’l crowds with instructions on how to grow pumpkins.

Each child goes home with a mini pumpkin after the $5 tour, but there’s plenty of opportunities to purchase larger pumpkins at the farm store. There are U-pick pumpkins and pre-picked pumpkins to choose from.
